As Lori slowly began to rise, she sized up her new companion. "I don't recognize your voice. Who ya with?"

"I'll ask the questions. You Slayer?"

"Maybe."

"Well, if you are Slayer, I had the wrong idea."

"In what way?"

"I figured that you would be a male."

His footsteps were not heard by his target nor the unknown personage whom now held Kitty at bay. Pulling his pistol from its holster he stepped around the corner of the building that hid his figure. "What the hell are you doing on these grounds?" The stranger started to turn slowly. "I wouldn't."

"I have no time for you and your play guns."

"Well neither do I have time for play guns. And to answer your next question, yes, I always carry live ammo."

"Well, you must have thought of everything."

"I try to. Now, drop the knife and step back."

Lori had gained her voice by now, "You carry live ammo! Why wasn't I told? You little piece of..."

"Shut your mouth," Slayer politely interrupted, "You didn't need to know. Now pick up the knife and get behind me. And you, slowly turn around so I can see your face."

Lori snatched the knife as she jogged her way behind Slayer. Their 'friend' started his turn but thought otherwise. Dashing behind the closest building he started out on his escape.

"Damn, I knew it," was Slayer's only reaction.

"What?" Lori was completely confused by this time. "Who was that?"

"That was Disciple. He's good, but he's not better than me," Slayer paused, "At least the last time I saw him in action."

"Last time... Nevermind, so what are we going to do?"

"You are going to stay right here, call for a chopper, and then hunt us out when it gets here."

"And what are you going to do?"

"Are you actually that nave? What else would I be doing?" With that Slayer took off in the direction of Disciple while Kitty called for the chopper.

Disciple dashed up the fire ladder of one of the buildings in the small little 'town' that had been taken over by the military. Once on the roof, he scanned for any sign of Slayer. He heard the faint sound of a helicopter in the distance and knew he did not have much time. Still doesn't waste time. Maybe this was a mistake... Never! Where are you my friend?

Slayer knew that Disciple would go for a strategic position on top of the buildings, but there were too many spots to pick from. Reaching the first door that he came to, he started up the stairs. I knew he would hunt me down one day, but this I didn't expect. He knows he won't get off the base, what's he trying to prove? Slayer slowly opened the door to the roof and could not see any sign of life on that roof. Down on his stomach, he crawled to the edge and took the holographic unit off his riffle and loaded it with on of the clips on his belt.

The chopper set down in the field just outside of the town and Lori was instantly on board yelling to take off and start circling the immediate area. The pilot was complaining the whole time about not knowing a thing about what was going on. Kitty only replied with, "Shut up and fly you moron!"
